31 Days at Gallery Red, Glebe
In 2010 I was one of a group of artists  asked to create a piece a day for 31 days over March. I incorporated the numerals 3 and 1 into my work as they have special significance in this month - the 31st being my birth date and the 13th being my mother's birth date. The subjects are all objects from my kitchen in Newtown some being objects that were used in my childhood kitchen in Goulburn which I really cherish, as a link with my early life.
I was born by accident at home on that 31st of March 1963 - my father only told me about twenty years after my mothers death (when I was 13 yrs old). After her death our family life changed dramatically. Creating these pieces was cathartic and caused me to value my own present situation as a survivor of breast cancer (in 2009) with a supportive  partner and three beautiful children.
