These are more works made with Cuisenaire rods, most are 100 mm square , some others I call "long skinnys". The earlier ones are glued to plywood and so appear to have more depth such as Marrickville Man , below.
I have incorporated plastic model making figures into many of my new works - the scale varies.
The images are loose interpretations of Newtown (or close by) scenes many that I have previously visited in my printmaking. I love working with well used materials and feel that their past use influences what I do with them.
The latest works I have been doing in March are inspired by viewing Michael Wolf's photographs of high density living in Asian cities.

These works below have all been made using Cuisenaire rods -these small coloured wooden blocks were used through out the world to teach small children how to count and do more complex mathematical operations - particularly popular in the 1960's in Australia. I was lucky enough to find a supply when helping at an inner city school clean up 10 years ago. The rods have introduced a playful element into my work and I have enjoyed responding to their solidity and colour. Much of the patterning in the works below is from my lino cuts created on our trip round Australia in 2010.
