Betta Meats was a fabulous butcher on King Street Newtown, until about 2012.

Rita served behind the counter, sporting a beehive hair style and would always ask

"What can I get for you young lady ?"

I was over 40 at the time but I liked her style !

Besides doling out boiled lollies to the kids she provided us with the tastiest ham ever ( and I'm not really a fan ! )

Today Earl's Juke Joint retains the facade to serve as a saloon style cocktail bar.
